Insurance, Warranty & Repair Info

To purchase Insurance for your Chromebook go to:

 

If your Chromebook needs to be repaired or replaced

  • Immediately report this to the front office and a school-issued loaner will be provided until the device is repaired or replaced.
Please NOTE:  Parents should first determine if the repair is a warranty issue for HP, an insurance claim with Worth Ave. or an insurance claim with Fortegra (GoCare).

The 1-year HP warranty covers the device from the date of purchase - please keep your proof of purchase from Central Computers.
 
Types of issues with your Chromebook covered by Factory Warranty for one year:
  • any mechanical failure of your device – covered by HP Warranty for 1st year
  • keyboard or screen issues not caused by accidental damage
  • any hardware related issues causing the Chromebook to not function properly

GoCare (Fortegra) Insurance repairs or replacement(for policies purchased during 2016-17 school year)

Please NOTE:  Fortegra has taken over all Insurance Claims for GoCare.
 

Insurance coverage that was purchased through GoCare Insurance during the  2016-17 school year has changed to a new carrier.  on August 22, 2017, parents should have received an email from Fortegra (Underwriter for GoCare Insurance) with instructions on how to make a claim for their device - Click HERE for a copy of that letter.

Types of issues with your Chromebook covered by Fortegra Insurance for 2nd & 3rd year:
*accidental damage or breakage
*lost, stolen, etc.

If you need to create a claim, you can do so at: http://www.4repairs.net, and provide your serial number. For claims-related questions, please contact our Claims Department at 800-867-2216.

Fortegra coverage will not cover Manufacturer defect/mechanical breakdown on any claim. This includes breakdown such as:
*Unresponsive keyboard
*defective wifi card
*unrsponsive mouse pad, etc.

Worth Ave. Insurance repairs or replacement 

Types of issues with your Chromebook covered by Worth Ave. Group Insurance for first year:
*accidental damage or breakage
*lost, stolen, etc.
Types of issues with your Chromebook covered by Worth Ave. Group Insurance for 2nd & 3rd year:
*accidental damage or breakage
*lost, stolen, etc.
*AND mechanical failures/manufacturer defects

Central Computers : Defective Chromebook Replacement

  • Within the first 30 days from purchase – Central Computers will replace the Chromebook
  • After the first 30 days and before 60 days
    • Option 1– Central Computers will send out the Chromebook to HP for warranty repair for you  (turnaround time: approx. 20 days)
    • Option 2 – Contact HP directly and HP picks up directly from you (turnaround time: approx. 10 days)
  • After 60 days up to HP 1-year warranty period – Customer must contact HP directly and HP picks up directly from you (turnaround time: approx. 10 days)
