Chapter 8 exam today.  It is worth 100 points.  Study the KWL and be active in learning during class.

Your textbooks are due today.  Please bring your Spanish books to class with you, so we can turn them in to the book room together, at our appointed time.  Late submissions will delay your yearbook collection.  Lost books needs to be paid for before you can get your yearbook.  

Bring your workbook all week.  On Tuesday/Wednesday, in class, we are doing pages 152 and 153 to practice making comparisons.  On Thursday and Friday,in class,  we are doing pages 148 and 156 to practice vocabulary and the present tense verb "traer."

Read dialogue on page 320, do 1-5; read dialogue on page 330, do 1-5; read dialogue on page 340, do 1-6; read dialogue on page 350, do 1-5. This was started in class.  Needs to be completed by the due date.  Turn in as you walk in the door.

1)  On page 349 in the textbook, #21, there are 24 vocabulary words--learn them by the quiz today.

2) On page 353 in the textbook, #30, write the entire paragraph inserting the conjugated verbs as you go.  

3) On page 90 in The Preterite Tense packet, do 1-10 of ¡Te toca a ti! AND in the same packet, do pages 90-91, ejercicio II-I-4 (1-15).

All three of these assignments are due at the beginning of class.  Come prepared!

In The Preterite Tense packet, on page 86: ¡Te toca a ti! ,1-8 are due AND on page 87, 1-9 are due of ejercicio II-1-2.  Please take your time on these exercises. Page 86 is reviewing regular AR verbs, and page 87 is reviewing verbs that have an irregular first person.  All the conjugations for the irregular first person changes are found on pages 86-87 of the packet. 

 

Your video has to be submitted to Google classroom by this date.  Please go to Goggle classroom and see the instructions.  Please use either a mov. or an MP4 file.    I will also need your previous, evaluated final draft and a clean copy of a "final final" where you made the changes from your evaluated final draft.  Please include a proper MLA heading including all of the members of your group. In The Preterite Tense packet, do ejercicio II-1-1 on  pages 85-86, #s 1-15.  Here are the infinitive verbs you will need, beginning with sentence 1: comprar; 2: estudiar; 3: trabajar; 4: lavar; 5: cantar; 6: correr; 7: escribir; 8: abrir; 9: abrir (negative); 10: vender; 11: bailar; 12: hablar; 13: tomar una ducha; 14: lavar; 15: ir (irregular).  Write out the entire sentence in Spanish.  Do not Google translate these sentences.  Use your own brain:)  You may use Spanish dictionary to look up the conjugated form of the verb, or use a copy of 501 Verbs.

Prueba on Caliente Su Mente concepts and review of conjugating in class this week.  Pay attention and study your cuaderno, and correct the Caliente Su Mente each day.  This prueba is open cuaderno.  Use the cuaderno as a learning tool.

FINAL DRAFT of script is due today.  Please have all changes and additions highlighted and coded in your draft.  At this point there should be very few errors.  If a draft presents many errors, I will not continue to read it.  Your group will need to come work with me, on your own, and not during class. 

Q3 exam is today.  Here are the concepts in Chapter Seven that you should know! There is no oral exam this time.  This exam is worth 74 points, and it will go on Q3.

Journal Check today!  Beginning on Monday, March 13th, I will begin accepting journal checkers for this round.  Get your journal ready!

In the VERBOS REFLEXIVOS packet, please have completed through página 75. We will correct on Monday and Tuesday.

Wkbk pages 121 and 122:  WORD BANK for página 121 ( voleibol, damas, dibujar, videojuegos, básquetbol, pasatiempo, cartas, aeróbicos, ajedrez, americano)  These are all pastimes/hobbies.  Use vocabulario list in your text book on page 271. On page 122, use "me gusta" or "no me gusta" with the infinitive that goes with the picture.  Use the pictures on pg. 271 to help you determine what the pastimes are.  REMINDER:  because you are using "me gusta" before an infinitive, it will always be "gusta."

In the new VERBOS REFLEXIVOS packet, #s I, II, III, IV and VI are due.  Do not do # V or any other activity in this packet.  Stamps are given during work time in class.  If you do not finish during the allotted time, come see me.

In your Reflexive verbs packet, translate the paragraph on page 68, from English to Spanish.  Do not use Google translate.  Try to use the verbs provided in the packet, and focus as you work.  This will help you build skill at using reflexive verbs and formulating text.

Partner Dialogue Activity:  rough draft of your script is due on this date.  I will conference with the two of you to correct any errors in your dialogue.  Revise the errors, print out three "clean" copies (one is for me, and you each get one to read from), and be ready to present in front of the class the week of March 6th.  There is no set schedule.  Be ready to go March 6th:)

One-on-one conference with your rough draft paragraph(bring a hard copy and the RUBRIC).  This conference is worth five points today.  You will need the rough draft evaluated to turn in your final draft paragraph. 

The "baby poop-colored" Reflexive verb packet ( Los verbos reflexivos)is due today.  

In the Reflexive Verb packet, pages 66 and 67 are due.  Come to class with them completed.  We will correct them together.  Use the post on the first page of the website to help you conjugate them.

Cuaderno check:  vale 20 puntos.  I will accept journal checkers starting Monday, January 23rd.  Earn five extra points on Capítulo Siete exam by being a journal checker:)  

Workbook page 119 (optional) though this is excellent practice for the exam.

Practice with verbs!  1)On a piece of binder paper that you will tape into your cuaderno (once you get credit and we correct it), label the first paragraph #25.  Go to textbook page 256 and look at #25:  Begin to write out the entire paragraph in Spanish.  Once you get to the conjugating of the verb, conjugate it correctly and then highlight it with a different color.  Do the entire paragraph:)

2) On the same piece of paper (hopefully, unless you write BIG), label this paragraph #26, and look at textbook page 257, #26.  Write out the entire paragraph as before, conjugating the verbs as you go.  Highlight the conjugated verbs.  On page 257, review when to use "pedir" in the green Estructura square, if you have questions.  Do not tape this into your cuaderno until we correct it.  We will correct this in class on 1/12 and 1/13.  Each completed paragraph is worth 10 points, for a total of 20 points.

Bring your workbook each day this week!

Repaso/Guía de estudiar para Capítulo 6 Aventura 1 is due today.  We will review as a class.

Capítulo 6 "Prueba" due. This is a 5-page packet that I handed out the week of December 5th while I was conferencing.  Please come get a new packet if you do not have one.  I only have hard copies.  Please complete the entire packet by the due date.  We will correct it together in class.

Workbook pages 103 (#3-use textbook pages 229 and 237 for help), 104, #5, 106, 107, 108, 109.  The idea is to bring your workbook to class during my one-on-one conferences with students and use this time to work on the workbook.  If you do all this homework at home, bring something else to do in class. 

Final draft Responsibilidad Escritura #3 is due today. We will begin this writing in class on Monday/Tuesday (12/5, 12/6). You will bring a hard copy to evaluate with me on 12/6 and 12/7, and then you will have the weekend to revise per our conference. Please follow the format of submission carefully, so you will be successful.

Journal Check #2 of quarter two.  Be prepared to get full credit.  I will start taking new journal checkers on Tuesday, November 29th.  Come at break or after school to get your journal checked and qualify for extra credit.

Rough draft due of this assignment.  We will have a peer evaluation AND a one-on-one evaluation with me.  Be sure that your writing is complete. You will receive a stamp for completion and get specific feedback to improve your writing. Final draft is due on Tuesday and Wednesday 11/29 and 11/30.

Vocabulario Lección A prueba:  Please study the vocabulary sheet I handed out on 11/3 and 11/4.  For right now, you are responsible for the Lección A side of the two-sided sheet. I will focus on "La cocina" section for this 16-point quiz.

Capítulo Cinco Exam:  

• The quarterly exam for Capítulo Cinco is Monday, October 24th, oral for Períodos 3-6; Tuesday, Oct. 25th, oral for Período 0, written for Períodos 3 and 5; Wednesday, Oct., 26th, written for Períodos 0, 4 and 6.

"Guía para estudiar Capítulo 5" is due today.  We will go over your answers in class, so you will have correct answers to study for the quarterly exams (oral and written) given on Monday, October 24th-Wednesday, October 26th.  

Workbook pages 97-99 due.  Continue to work on pink review packet "Guía para estudiar Capítulo 5." Here is a little help for page 97:

The week of 10/11 and 10/12, you were put into different "yellow" groups based on your score on the quiz the week of 10/6 and 10/7.  You need to complete all the items on the list on that yellow form I gave you BY TODAY.  If you did not finish in class, do this at home. Bring your form to class with all the items done and checked off.  That is how you earn your stamp for completion.  Students in my group will get full credit for participation. 

Workbook pages 92 (Try your best on this page) 93, 94, 95, 96.  We will correct in class. Come prepared with the pages already completed, and come with questions!

The first page of "La familia Miranda" is due today.  Read the first story (1.) and answer all seven questions in Spanish.  Write out each question and then answer it.  This should be done in your cuaderno under the title "La familia Miranda I."

Here are some definitions that might help:  sólo=only; solo/a=alone; descansar=to rest; llueve=rains, comes from the verb "llover"; ¿verdad?=true?

Comida favorita paragraph is due today as you walk into class.  Please put the hard copy of your illustrated paragraph in your period's homework box to receive full credit.  We will start this assignment in class on 9/22 and 9/23.  I will evaluate it, and then over the weekend, you will type it up using the sentence frame but please leave out the prompts in English.  It will appear as a fluid paragraph, in Spanish. This assignment is considered a Category Two assignment since we worked on it with the PowerPoint of Costa Rica's food and completed the form and evaluation in class. Email me any questions you have.

Do workbook page 83 (review of Chapter five's vocabulary and "tener") and page 91 (practice with vocabulary of la fecha.  Noche Vieja=New Year's Eve) .  Due at the beginning of class. 

Workbook pages 88 and (attempt) 89.  These pages are reviewing direct object pronouns.  

Páginas 86-87.  All sections on each page.  These pages cover direct object pronouns (me, te, la, lo, las, los, nos, os) and personal "a." Check out page 194 in  your textbook for further support. Re-watch Señor Jordan's video on direct object pronouns to review the concepts, if needed.  I have posted the video on our website.

First journal check of the semester.  Please check out the page on our website titled "El ordén del cuaderno," and follow the order exactly.  I update the pages every few days. I will be collecting journal checkers for this check beginning on Wednesday, September 7th.  Come at break and after school to see me if you want to be a journal checker. Five extra points on the Chapter 5 exam. 

In the workbook, page 81, section #1; page 82, section #3 and section #4 due on Monday, Sept., 12th for Periods 3, 4, 5, and 6.  For Period 0, Tuesday, Sept. 13th.  Email me any questions you have. Use your vocabulary sheet for Capítulo Cinco, pg., 10, of your cuaderno.

The Repaso Unidades Chapters 1-4 packet is due.  This will be handed out on Thursday, Sept 1.  I will give you some class time to work on this review packet.

Verbos repaso chart is due today in class.  We will begin this project in class on 8/25 and 8/26.  Use your class time wisely, so you do not have homework! 

In your cuaderno, please have all pages assembled as I modeled in class:  the author's page-page six. If you need some guidance, check out the PowerPoint I shared with you.  It is on one of our pages called Cuaderno Interactivo.  I have attached it here as well. The author's page directions are on page nine of the PowerPoint.
