About Social Emotional Learning At Fisher
Social emotional learning (SEL) values the critical role that positive relationships and emotional connections play in the learning process and helps students develop a range of skills they need to function well in the classroom, in the community, and in college and careers.
At Fisher, we believe SEL can help empower students, staff, and community members to create a thriving school climate. For over 15 years, Fisher has been working with Project Cornerstone to work towards this. In the past, programs and staff members at Fisher have been honored by Project Cornerstone as "Asset Champions". This work continues with our implementation of the Project Cornerstone SEL curriculum.
Like in our Elementary school program, SEL work is grounded in the CASEL framework. The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is the country’s leading PreK-12 SEL practice, policy and research organization. For 25 years, CASEL has been a trusted source for knowledge about high-quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) and has made the case for SEL as an integral part of education.
