Offered SEL Programs

At Fisher, students receive direct instruction to develop Social Emotional skills. In addition to formal and informal lessons that are a part of a student's core curriculum, the following programs are in place to explicitly support students' social emotional needs.

Wednesday SEL Classes
Students participate in an eight-part class with Los Gatos Union School District counselors throughout the school year. The course builds off of student's elementary school experience with Project Cornerstone and focuses on self awareness, social relationships, self advocacy, anxiety management, and stress management. More information about the curriculum can be found here.

Homework Center
The Homework Center provides a safe space for students to build their academic and learning skills in a supervised setting. It is staffed with LGUSD employees to support students with homework from their current classes. The center is open every Monday and Thursday for one hour after school in Room R3. Be Seen and Heard 2.0 (Erin's Law)
Erin’s Law requires California schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, has been assisting LGUSD schools in implementing this mandate since 2019. Be Seen and Heard 2.0, Mr. Pacini’s assembly program, is presented in specific grade level groups to ensure that the message is age appropriate for all students. The focus of the presentations is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations.
