French 1B (Period 2)
Course Description
This two-year academic elective is an introduction to French language and culture for students with little to no knowledge of French. Students learn the fundamentals of French grammar, pronunciation and culture through listening, speaking, reading and writing in adherence to the World Language Content Standards for California Public Schools.
Each thematic unit presents grammar concepts with vocabulary in context to support student comprehension. Dialogues, games, and a variety of interactive activities are used to reinforce learning and build on concepts previously introduced. Using diverse multimedia language activities, students will gain an understanding of the culture, geography, and history of Francophone (French-speaking) countries.
