Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry to have missed you today, but I had a personal matter to attend to. Your agenda is pretty straight forward today. You're going to start on a drawing/art activity. It's a classic drawing using pythagorean theorem to create a spiral. Take a week to complete and have fun with it. It's an easy 10 points. Take care everybody!
AGENDA
1. Start on your Theodorus Wheel assignment by brainstorming what you want to create.
2. Hold onto your Real Estate Problem until I am there on Wednesday. We'll go over that together in class.
SUMMARY
1. Start with Assignment #98

Hi Everybody,
Unfortunately, due to my positive testing for Covid and lingering symptoms I had to take one more day to ensure that I wasn't contagious. I have a doctor visit today, but I can tell you that since last night, my symptoms have dramatically reduced. I have a feeling tomorrow will be the day I'm back; which means Friday we get to work together. Woohoo!
For today, start by logging onto our zoom meeting to review with me. Afterwards, start your Chapter 8 quiz. Yes, you can use calculator; yes, your sub should have written the formulas for Laws of Sines & Cosines on the board; no, we will not write the (45-45-90) or (30-60-90) properties, nor the Sine, Cosine, Tangent functions; yes, GoGuardian will be turned on so no funny business; and no, there will not be any extra time to complete the quiz. SO GET GOING!
Note that I'm extending Assignment #82 (Worksheet 9.4) until Friday. We can go over the solutions then. I will not add any more HW, so use the next 2 days to catch up on any missing assignments. Finally, don't forget to turn in your Assignment #76 (Worksheet, Review for QZ8) today and complete your Study Plan by tonight.
Here's an organized list of what you should be working on:
1. Assignment #77: MathXL Study Plan for Chapter 8 Quiz (due Wednesday at midnight)
2. Assignment #82: Worksheet 9.4 (due first thing in class on Wednesday)

Hi Everybody,
Well, another positive Covid test for me on Thursday. This means that my earliest return is Monday. Ayayai! What are you gonna do, right. Gotta stay hopeful and patient.
We have to meet today via zoom. Please come to 4th period with your Chromebooks charged. We have a lot to cover. Attached is a zoom link. I'll open the zoom at 10:45am. Bring your headphones too. Below is a list of what we have to cover together:
1. I want to go over problems #2 & #4 from the Worksheet, Review QZ8.
2. I want to go over the Clinometer problem. I have to make sure you understand the relationships, diagram, and formula. Although the formula is not really important.
3. I want to give you some hints for the POW: Radar Problem, and go over any questions you might have.
4. Let's do some new math together. I have a problem called Barton's Challenge. Your sub should be delivering this handout to you.
There's still a few kids that have not made up their Quiz #7. Why? I'm going to place a zero as a place holder to get your attention at this point. So if you haven't emailed me yet, get on it.
So today a teacher will come by to pick up the Clinometer projects to deliver them to me. I'll finish grading them over the weekend. Make sure they've been turned in to your sub.
Today's agenda is to zoom with me first, then work independently the rest of the time. Below is a list to help you get organized:
Geometry Assignments (in order of priority):
1. Assignment #79: POW, Radar Problem (due MONDAY IN CLASS)
2. Assignment #81: MathXL 9.1-9.3 (due this MONDAY NIGHT)
3. Assignment #77: MathXL Study Plan for QZ8 (due next WEDNESDAY NIGHT)

DESCRIPTION
Fisher's MathCounts team is a competitive math team that competes against other middle schools in Santa Clara county and beyond. The team this year will be made up of the best 12 math students. You can be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. In order to make the team, you must tryout. For more information on how the math team competes, check out the attached doc labeled MathCounts Flyer.
TRYOUTS
Fill out the attached Google Form by midnight of this Friday (12/3/21). This is a strict deadline. If you miss it, you won't be able to tryout for the team. Tryouts will be after school on Friday (12/10/21) in room Y5. If I have more than 40 students tryout, I will hold a second session on Monday (12/13/21) after school in room Y5. I will contact all students on Saturday (12/4/21) via email of their tryouts schedule. I will also post a poster outside room Y5 with names of students and scheduled tryouts.
