You can use this presentation as a skeleton, but you should MAKE IT YOUR OWN by incorporating your theme and your voice, etc.

From 4/17-4/28, you will be doing SBAC testing in your English, Math, and Science classes... You will need WIRED HEADPHONES and a SILENT READING BOOK.

Also, in order to start building with your group for Rube Goldberg you need a SIGNED CONTRACT (last page of the packet and given to you on 4/6 or 4/7)

Review the objectives: 1. prior to us starting the unit, 2. after the quiz, and 3. after the test.

We will do the final test of your car with a raw egg AND you need to turn in the teamwork rubric (found on the Eggciting Car Challenge rubric)

There are multiple due dates for this assignment:
1.  Car Test Results, 2.  Teamwork, AND 3.  Engineering Design Process DUE Tue 18th /Wed 19th
4.  Free Body Diagram DUE Tue 18th /Wed 19th AT THE END OF CLASS
5.  Flipgrid DUE Th 20th/ Fri 21st

The examples shown are NOT perfect... They just show how to start the Free Body Diagram- they are not necessarily an "A".

Work on Science for 10-15 minutes.

5th period- Finish question 4 a-d.  We will do e together.

When you finish the lab work on Newton's Laws WSs.

We will complete the investigation in class.

We will complete Investigation 12A in class. 


If you want to practice finding Speed and Velocity there are an extraordinary amount of practice problems here.

If we haven't already, we will finish our Forces NOTES on p 19 and take the lesson 1 quiz.  After the quiz you can write your summary for the forces notes on p19.  


When everyone is done with the quiz we will do the Investigation in class. Once finished we will complete Equilibrium which is homework if it is not finished in class.


DUE (or HW): 1.  Summary for Forces Notes (p19), 2.  Equilibrium (p18), 3.  Investigation 13A (p20-21).


**If you finish early you can start reading Lesson 2 in your workbook (p20-27).**

We will take notes IN CLASS from the powerpoint on p19 of your Interactive NoteBook... you will write a 4-7 sentence summary and be graded.

When you finish your quiz:
1.  Review your Student Learning Objectives (in your Google Drive) and rate yourself on quiz for all 11 objectives.
2.  Start reading Topic 1, Lesson 1 in the workbook (p12-19)

Please use a blank piece of paper to create a cover for your notebook which must include:
The title (8th grade Science, Physical/Chemical Science) Interactive Notebook,
the year (2022-2023),
your name,
my name,
school name.
This will earn you a C (see green example attached).
To get a B you will include colorful pictures.
To get an A you will spend time and effort on the wording (see the other 2 examples).

We will cover them with clear packing tape to create a sort of lamination to keep them looking good.

Compare and contrast the two and create ONE key that works for both pages.  Use at least four colors.

We started this in class.  It needs to be completed (Fill the page, title, page number, colored, mnemonic) by Friday.  We will have time in class to work on it Thursday and Friday.

Divide pages 8 and 9 into 6 boxes each.  Scroll through the attached pdf and take notes on pages 8 and 9.  There is one extra box- use it to explain what happens to a hot beaker on a cold lab station OR how to use a mass balance.  Include color when possible.
