Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately, I broke out in a  fever last night, so I have to take 1 more day to heal.  Covid negative thankfully.   I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you all to teach you in person all of these techniques.  If I could be there I would. 

Today you're going to continue with your Desmos Art project.  I've included a rubric (Assignment #81) in your Google Classroom.  I've also attached an additional tutorial on making waves (or water).  Check it out if you want to include it in your art piece.  This assignment won't be due until next week on Monday or Tuesday.

For those of you who finish early, your next assignment is already posted (Assignment #82).  It is a drawing of rotating hexagons.  This drawing will be done on graphing paper.  A rubric with graph paper will be found in the blue baskets at the back of the classroom.  This assignment won't be due until next week on Tuesday or Thursday. 

Finally, make sure you're all caught up with your MathXLs because you're taking a short Module #9 Quiz on mathXL tomorrow in class.  I want to check how well you're retaining this information.  Tomorrow is all periods and Wednesday is a minimum day.

DESCRIPTION
Fisher's MathCounts team is a competitive math team that competes against other middle schools in Santa Clara county and beyond.  The team this year will be made up of the best 12 math students.  You can be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.  In order to make the team, you must try out.  For more information on how the math team competes, check out the attached doc labeled MathCounts Flyer.

TRYOUTS
Fill out the attached Google Form by midnight this Sunday (12/11/22).  This is a strict deadline.  If you miss it, you won't be able to try out for the team.  Tryouts will be after school on Wednesday (12/14/22) and Thursday (12/15/22) in room Y5.  If we have more than 60 students try out, I will hold a third and final session on Monday (12/19/22) after school in room Y5.  I will contact all students on Monday (12/12/22) via email about their tryouts schedule.   I will also post a poster outside room Y5 with the names of students and scheduled tryouts.

Sorry I couldn't be there today, my son Oscar is sick and I needed to stay home to take care of him.  Note that our sub today, Ms. Seshadri, is one of the best math subs in town.  She can explain any and all the math problems we're studying and learning.  So I encourage you to take advantage and ask her for help and explain any math problem you got wrong on your homework.  Don't be shy.

Hello Everybody,

Well, well, well, I guess I couldn't escape the sickness after all.  It started with a tickle in my throat and now I can barely talk.  Ugh.  The lesson for today will build on what we've been doing.   I'll also be live on chat via GoGuardian so you can ask me questions.  Below is a list of what you should do on your own today.  Please be independent and resourceful.  I'm hoping to be back by Wednesday.

To-Do List:
1.  Get your headphones out and watch the video notes I've posted here.  If you don't have any headphones, borrow some from the substitute.   I've printed (or scripted) these notes for you so that you only have to fill in the blanks.  Feel free to get some scissors from the Student Closet if you want to trim your sheet for your notebook.  And please, don't forget to update your Table of Contents.

2.  Next, attempt at least 10 problems from the "Partner Problem, Finding Slope" worksheet that we started on Monday.  You can check your answers with your classmates, you can check with me via chat on GoGuardian, or you can wait until we see each other on Thursday.  Remember that this is a practice activity, not an assignment for points.  Try your best, it's okay if you make mistakes.

3.  Next try and finish your graphing activity we started last Thursday.  This is a great opportunity to earn some extra credit too, so take advantage while you can.  I have colored pencils you can borrow in the Student Closet if you're ready to decorate it.  

4.  Finally move on to your MathXLs.  Your MathXL 3.2B which is due tonight at midnight, and the new one, MathXL 3.3A, which is due later this week. 

One Last Thing:
Make good choices while I am out.  I do not want a bad report from your substitute.  Remember to be respectful, responsible, and always be ready.
