6. Next, fold your poster paper into your 3D solid.
7. Finally, attach a string to your solid such that it's anchored on the inside, but with enough string sticking out so that you can make a loop and hang your project.

Hi Everyone,

Hi Everybody,

My apologies for not being there today, I've had a nagging baby sore throat that I couldn't shake all week.  I had to give myself a day to rest.  I slept over 9 hours yesterday!!  Feeling better already.   Please note that our 8th-grade assembly has been moved from this Monday to the following week on Thursday.  That means that we can review for the midterm together on Monday.  Please get those practice problems done since I'll be sharing/posting the answers on Monday. Below is your AGENDA for the day:

AGENDA:
1. Complete the "Dilation Challenge" problem on graph paper.  Don't forget to attach this graph paper to your notebook and update your table of contents with "Notes/Practice 9.7".  Instead of teaching you lesson 9.7 formally we're going to learn it by doing the math and learning a technique.  Your substitute has the solution and explanation.  She's really smart and can explain math concepts.
2.  Next go over the answers to your practice worksheet 9.7 from the other day.  This was not for points, just for practice.  The answers are on the board.  Your sub will post the solution to #20 on the screen and will ask someone to come up and explain how to do #19.  So don't be shy.  No need to turn this worksheet into the inbox.  Please keep it.

3. Next is a hard problem.  I call it the Rotation Problem on Desmos.  For this, watch the video attached, and work it out informally.  Yes, you can collaborate with elbow partners but don't go walking around the class.  Not with a sub.  Your sub will show you the answer and explanation afterward.  You'll need headphones, which you can borrow from the brown bag inside our student closet (top shelf).

4. Finally, it's independent work time.  You have a worksheet with practice problems for your midterm as well as a Study Plan on MathXL.  Beware that your sub has the right to end the day with an exit ticket if she wants to.  I gave Ms. Seshadri the right to choose to give you this exit ticket.  If she doesn't then I'll give it to you on Monday (or maybe I'll turn it into a pop quiz :0).

5. Finally, the extra credit is worth 5 process points or the equivalent of an additional Full Credit Pass for Quarter 2.

DESCRIPTION
Fisher's MathCounts team is a competitive math team that competes against other middle schools in Santa Clara county and beyond.  The team this year will be made up of the best 12 math students.  You can be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.  In order to make the team, you must try out.  For more information on how the math team competes, check out the attached doc labeled MathCounts Flyer.

TRYOUTS
Fill out the attached Google Form by midnight this Sunday (12/11/22).  This is a strict deadline.  If you miss it, you won't be able to try out for the team.  Tryouts will be after school on Wednesday (12/14/22) and Thursday (12/15/22) in room Y5.  If we have more than 60 students try out, I will hold a third and final session on Monday (12/19/22) after school in room Y5.  I will contact all students on Monday (12/12/22) via email about their tryouts schedule.   I will also post a poster outside room Y5 with the names of students and scheduled tryouts.

Hello Everybody,

I'm sorry I couldn't be with you today, but I have some personal things to attend to with my family.  Please note the order of activities for today.  There is an Exit Ticket that you will work on at the end of class.  If you read my note on the whiteboard, it also explains that you need to get ready for that in advance.

To-Do List:
1.  Start by watching the video labeled "Exit_Ticket_Explained".  This is a quick explanation of the Exit Ticket we worked on a couple of days ago.  Please use your headphones to watch any videos in class.  If you need to borrow headphones, head to the student closet, look for the brown bag on the top shelf, and take one.

2. Next, watch your Video Notes 5.1/5.2.  Don't forget to update your table of contents with the title "Video Notes 5.1/5.2". 

3. Next, check out the solutions for problems #1-8 for our CH4 Practice Proofs.  I will post #9-14 on Monday. Please attempt and keep working on as many proofs as you can. 

4. The bulk of your day should be centered around doing some math.  If you haven't finished your POW: Triangular Swan, start there since it is due today.  Here's a list of the math work you should be working on, you chose:

Hello Everybody,

Well, well, well, I guess I couldn't escape it after all.  It started with a tickle in my throat and now I can barely talk.  Ugh.  The lesson for today will build on what we've been doing.   I'll also be live on chat via GoGuardian so you can ask me questions.  Below is a list of what you should do on your own today.  Please be independent and resourceful.  I will be back tomorrow.

To-Do List:
1.  Get your headphones out and watch the video notes I've posted here.  If you don't have any headphones, borrow some from the substitute.  Start with Video Notes 2.3/2.4 to finish yesterday's notes.  Then move on to Video Notes 2.5.  Don't forget to update your Table of Contents. You'll be gluing quite a few sheets of paper onto your notebook.

2. Next work on the Worksheet, Review for Quiz 1B.  I've attached the answers as well as a short video explaining the techniques for solving those area problems:
