In your notebook, create an Illustrated T-Chart that explains how the Compromise of 1850 benefited both the North and the South (found on page 407). Label each illustration (there needs to be 2 pictures for the North and 2 pictures for the South), and the pictures must be colored. An example of an illustrated T-Chart is attached.
Under the T-Chart answer these questions in complete sentences.
1. Why would popular sovereignty (look in the glossary) in these new territories gained by the Mexican Cession be something that the South would want?
2. What does the addition of new states mean for representation in Congress (especially the Senate)?
