On Thursday, ALL 7th grade students attended the Ghana Project assembly and heard Mustapha Ayana share his story and his volunteering with all of us.  Now it's time to attend the Service Fair where YOU can learn more about this project, as well as other organizations in our community that you can get involved in.  Our global community needs each and every one of us to make a difference in whatever way possible.

During the Service Fair held during FLEX today (Friday 1/30), you must attend at least 3 different tables and complete the chart on the colored worksheet passed out in Flex today. (a copy is attached if needed).  Afterwards, complete the reflection on the back thoroughly. 

You must show this to at least one parent/guardian at home and have them sign their name at the top right corning of the reflection side that you discussed your experiences!  You will not get credit without this signature!  I will inform all families through ParentSquare about this expectation.

On the document you will see a QR code in case your family is interested in donating to the Ghana project.  You can also share this with others, like family and friends, to help gather more support!  One way your family can do this is by sharing the attached video to family and friends!

An added bonus!  The 7th grade social studies teachers will donate $1 for every 7th grade student/parent family who donates!

Your homework for this weekend is to work on your 3D Design models.  You should each have a packet of clay and a blank sheet of construction paper cut to fit the BOX YOU WILL BE GIVEN IN CLASS ON TUESDAY to complete your design.  Please DO NOT find another box to use as I will be displaying them on the walls and it is much easier when I have the same shape and dimensions of each box to work with. 

In class I will have several 'stations' set up to help in the construction of your design.  I will have hot glue and rubber cement stations to assemble your work. I will also have some random available arts and craft items that may meet your needs. However, I advise you to bring in anything you think you may need to complete your design OR contact Mrs. Appleton in advance to request a special item.  

BE MINDFUL that you will ONLY have the opportunity to work in class for approximately 45 mins to one hour. IF you need more time to complete the project, the rest of the work will need to be completed outside of class. As such having your clay and  background/model designs done in advance is a very good idea! 

PRINTING of your WRITTEN DESCRIPTION: Please make every effort to print your written description at home this weekend.  In order to do this you will need to COPY AND PASTE the information from your Google Slide Deck to a Google Doc.  The write up should be in 11 pt. Font (type of font is your choice) LEFT and RIGHT Margins should be set  at 0.75 on each side. (Please see screenshots below.). IF you are unable to access a printer, please share your Google doc with Ms. Appleton by 8:00 AM on Monday, January 26th. Remember, if you can print your own document, it would be greatly appreciated!

Finally, if you have read this far along for the instructions, make sure to write your favorite color in the private comment of assignment in order to earn the points for this assignment.

ANIMATE VISUALSThe WeVideo Editor for your group needs to use the text instructions below and/or the attached link to apply the Ken Burns type effects to PHOTOS used in the documentary video as needed.  Mix up the effects so some Zoom In, some Zoom Out, and some Pan from one side to the other.  The effect should not be too fast or it will be distracting.
1. Double click on the photo in the WeVideo "Visual/Video" track you want the effect applied to (open its editing tools (pencil icon) 
2. Set the start and end positions/scales using the animation controls (keyframes) for a slow pan or zoom, and preview the motion to bring your photo to life.

SCROLLING CREDITS
** MAKE SURE TO HAVE CREDITS BEGIN SCROLLING WITH THE 1ST GEOGRAPHY CITATION AND ENDS WITH THE LAST SOCIAL CITATION.**
1. use a static text box, add your text, 
2. then go to the Animation tab and set keyframes for the Y-coordinate: drag the text down (e.g., Y=1000) for the start position and up (e.g., Y=-850) for the end, keeping the X-coordinate the same to make it scroll smoothly from bottom to top. 
3. Adjust the text clip's duration to control the speed, with longer duration slowing it down, and preview to ensure all credits fit and scroll correctly.

DIRECTIONS: Make a “How To” video on a simple topic that you are familiar with.using WeVideo

6. Send Ms. Appleton an email with the phrase "I Got This' in the subject line by end of class today.
7. Use the CHECKLIST HANDOUT' (pink sheet) that contains the REQUIRED elements listed below as a guideline. 

REQUIRED ELEMENTS:

TEXT Track - for the following…

Include at least one transition between 2 visuals/videos

After you finish the Google Form, find the assigned Edpuzzle Link in Google Classroom and watch the assigned video.

Rubric of assignments is attached. You will be given a paper copy in class to fill out BEFORE you arrive to class.

Use the blank slide attached below to create your worldview space. Make sure to review the rubric and worldview space example and directions posted in Google Classroom

10 Process Points (not included on rubric - Effective use of class time, project was turned in on time, strong degree of effort and includes decorations/furniture to make room more realistic within project guidelines)

Review the example slide and then take the quiz (in the Google Form link)

After you have completed this task, please begin brainstorming the 'Checklist' for your Worldview Space Google Slide. Please come to class prepared to begin making your slide. (Have a quote, links, image ideas etc.) Mrs. Appleton will help you with your Google Form (Who Am I? quiz) NEXT CLASS and provide the slide you should use to make your worldview space.

Creating RECORDING AT HOME
1. Go to original assigment and "UNSUBMIT" slide deck (if turned in) and open it up
2. press record button (black dot with circle around it) on right side of screen (see screenshot below)
3. give Google access to microphone and test to make sure it works. camera access is optional for this assignment.
4. click on red record button to begin. DO NOT read the words on slides, instead, explain each slide's content (text, visuals, and captions) in more depth for view to understand better.
5. stop recording when done and save recording.
6. once recording is processed, click on the 3 dots to right of recording file in window and select "copy link"
7. POST the copied link to YOUR RECORDING in THIS ASSIGNMENT in the  "CLASS COMMENT"  (DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU RECORDING HAS SOUND)
8. click on link to open up recording and click on "Share" at top right corner and change "Restricted" to "Los Gatos Union School District"

1. First open the attached Peardeck Slide Deck. Take notes in notebook for all slides marked with this symbol 📕 

2  When instructed, take the Values Quiz "What's Important to Me" found in the link below.

3. After you finish the quiz, complete assignment 1 - 2  Values Reflection Worksheet in your notebook. You will need to use the responses you gave in the Values Google Form to complete the reflection worksheet. 

Note: You can reopen the Values Quiz Google Form again by clicking on the link below and then selecting  "edit your response". This will allow you to review the answers you selected in case you need help remembering your quiz answers as you complete your reflection.

After you have completed all other assignments that are due for Social Studies, see how high of a score you can receive on this World Geography game.

Students will make an EFFECTIVE slide presentation that includes information that represents their own PAST,  PRESENT and FUTURE 

Step 1: Review the assigned  Effective Slides Peardeck in Google Classroom. It will walk the students through the various requirements of an EFFECTIVE SLIDE
Step 2: Complete the FOUR Slide Presentation about themselves that includes the following:
Title Page Slide
Past event Slide
Present event Slide (within the past couple of months is okay)
Future event Slide
Step 3: Complete the self assessment slide (at the end of the assigned slide deck)

You must score 100% on this quiz in order to receive full credit for this assignment. However, you will be allowed to retake the quiz multiple times (if necessary) in order to reach 100% accuracy. :-)

Receiving 100% the first time you take it will earn you 2 points extra credit.  
You may (should) use the attached documents and Blooket Review Game to review for the quiz IF should you need take the quiz again.
