Bring your Spanish textbook to class.  We need to return the books the following week.  Students will not receive yearbooks until all textbooks are returned!  We will store them in our classroom until we return the book on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday, May 18th.  We have a specific time each period to take our books back to the book room.  Please do not have your parents or guardians leave books in the office for you. If the books get taken by accident, you are financially responsible for them!

Preliminary script and storyboard are due for the video project:  I will meet with each group and give you feedback on the script and storyboard.  We will work together to make your final project strong.  Your part is to come to the meeting with a completed script and storyboard.  My part is to base my feedback on the evaluated outcomes of the project.

Workbook pages 71, 75, 76 and 77 are due.  See the breakdown of what each page is evaluating:

Page 71:  This is a fill-in paragraph using the infinitive verbs provided except the first blank which is "gusta."  It is important to know the definition of these verbs.

Page 75: This page practices 1+2+3+4 gustar.  It also addresses reading comprehension. The last question, #6, is personally for you!

Page 76: This page addresses "opposites."  Super important!  These are adjectives. A word bank for #8, on pg. 76 is: difícil, alta, rápido, calve, cómico, aburrida:)

Page 77: This page evaluates the use of "ser" and "estar" with adjectives.  It also evaluates whether or not you understand the difference between the two verbs, #10. Try your best, and we will correct these together!

Go to Google Classroom and fill out the Google form on the Chipotle Dilemma.  What should we do regarding our proposed field trip to Chipotle?  The company is only willing to have periods 5 and 6 go?  How do we make this experience equatable for all periods and all 147 students?  We want to hear your voice/opinion.  Weigh in by Friday, and we will look at the data next week.

After we make tortillas on Tuesday, May 3rd and Wednesday, May 4th, please write three sentences, in Spanish, to share your experience.  You may use any verb to write your sentences, but please only use present tense, and do not use Google translate. Pull from your current knowledge base.  Do not worry about making errors.  This is not evaluated.  We are only sharing--on your pop quiz. Try to incorporate the concepts we are currently using:  gustar, possessive adjectives, estar and ser usage, family vocabulary, etc. 

This is homework that practices possessive adjectives.  Use page 139 in the textbook for a reference.  Turn this in on time and receive full credit. 

El Árbol de mi Familia 8.5 x 11 "poster" is due today. Refer to the rubric I handed out the week of 4/11.  Your family tree must fit on 8.5 x 11 paper and include at least ten of your family members.  It must represent your personality and be creative, colorful and pleasing to the eye.  You must also include five sentences in Spanish about your family members. These need to appear on the front of your poster and be typed. I am evaluating your five typed sentences on Monday, April 25th and returning them to Periods 0, 1 and 2 on 4/26 and to Periods 5 and 6 as early as lunch on Wednesday 4/27 or in  class on 4/28.  It is important to have your sentences ready on 4/25 because ten points of the 45 are focused on the sentences.  The entire project vale 45 puntos. 

Workbook pages 67, 69, 72 and 73 are due today. Here is a breakdown of what each page covers:

Workbook page 66 is due today.  This page covers the present tense conjugation of "ir," "salir," and "vivir."  Due for Periods 0, 1 and 2 on 4/26 and Periods 5 and 6 on 4/28.

Construct five sentences using the formula on "gustar" that I passed our on Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26th.  Be sure to use 1+2+3+4 to construct a grammatically correct sentence.  The handout is attached here, if you need an additional copy. Due on Tuesday, April 26 for Periods 1 and 2; due on Wednesday, April 27th for Period 0, and due on Thursday, April 28th for Periods 5 and 6.

Rough draft of five sentences about your family members:  This is part of your "El Árbol de mi Familia" project. I will return periods 0, 1 and 2 on 4/26 and periods 5 and 6 on 4/28. Periods 5 and 6 can come as early as Wednesday 4/27 at lunch to pick up their drafts. These sentences need to be typed and will appear on your final family tree, due on Friday, April 29 for ALL periods. 

Revised homework, Párrofo de familia y BIG 12 verb, sheets due in turn-in box.  IF you turned the homework in on 4/18 (for periods 1, 2, 5, and 6) and 4/19 (Period 0) and got a stamp, you will receive full credit after revising any incorrect answers.  IF you turn the homework in without a stamp, but you complete the work correctly, you will lose only one point per assignment. 

Workbook pages 63-65 due today at the start of class. These pages focus on Puerto Rico, making possessive pronouns and nouns agree in number and possessive adjectives, and using the verb "vivir." Due for Periods 0, 1, and 2 on 4/22 and Periods 5 and 6 on 4/21.

BIG 12 verb sheet completed with the subject pronouns for each verb form.  These are twelve verbs that you will find on Q4's exam, so focus as you conjugate each one.  Due for Periods 1, 2, 5, and 6 on 4/18. Due for Period 0 on 4/19.

Párrafo de familia is due.  Complete this assignment by responding with complete sentences on the actual handout.   Annotate the paragraph to help you remember the text.  Read the questions first, before you begin reading the text.  Use the vocabulary at the bottom to help you understand.   Due for Periods 1, 2, 5, and 6 on 4/18. Due for Period 0 on 4/19.

Final, illustrated draft of your Poema de preguntas is due.  If you did not get your rough draft back by April 1, you will receive it back on Monday, April 11th or Tuesday, April 12th.  If you did not turn in a rough draft on Thursday, March 31 or Friday, April 1, points will be deducted for lateness. Capítulo Tres: Lección A y B review is due.  It is pages 19-28 and is preparation for the quarterly exam on Monday, March 21 (oral exam for Periods 1-6), Tuesday, March 22 (written exam for Periods 1 and 5, and oral exam for Period 0) and Wednesday, March 23 (written exam for Periods 0, 2, 6) y vale 20 puntos.  Once you take the quarterly exam on Monday, you will not be able to receive full credit for this assignment since the exam and quarter will be over.  Please "chuck*" out this review and use it to be SUPER successful on the Capítulo Tres exam.  Come to class with questions and comments. There is no soft copy of this available.  If you should lose your copy, come and get a new copy!

I will introduce this paragraph the week of 2/29-3/4.  You will have class time to work on creating your own original text using the sentence frames and word bank I provide.  This final draft needs to have:  An MLA proper heading, and it needs to be typed, 12 font, double spaced. 

Presentations for La Mesa begin.  For Períodos 1 and 5 presentation days are March 10, 14, and 15.  For Períodos 2 and 6, presentation days are March 11, 14 and 16. Período 0 is: March 11, 15 and 16. 

Bring in ONE hard copy of your group's script, so I can have ONE more look at it, and YOUR group can get 100 percent.  Have the script coded, so I can see that you have included all the expectations.

Workbook pages:  46, 47, 48, 49, 50 are due.  

Here are the codes for your script.  Like you did in the SER/ESTAR  project, you will label or code your work to show that you have included all of the expectations on the rubric.  There are ten expectations and an extra one for extra credit.  Follow the directions on the code sheet and receive 100 percent! 

Journal check in class.  Vale 15 puntos.  Considered late if journal is not in order on the day we check in class.  Use the days before the check to organize your journal.  

Handout on Ir +a+infinitivo is due today.  We will correct it in class.

Second check-in for La Mesa:  this check-in includes a hard copy rough draft of your script.  Come to class with your draft already printed out.  You only need one draft for your group.  We will have a one-on-four or a one-on-three conferences and go through your draft.  You should try to have your entire script done and come to the conference with specific questions of how to improve your project.

I will also check workbook pages 51-54 at our conference.

Practice with verbs is due today! (Titled: Una Foto Misteriosa.)  Also due are workbook pages 51-54.  Here is a word bank to help with the crossword puzzle on pg. 51.   These words also appear on page 125 of your textbook under the vocabulary list titled:  En la ciudad: edificio, centro, plaza, avenida, museo, teatro, ciudad, tienda, calle. 

I will check these pages, 51-54, at our one on four- or- one-on-three conference regarding your scripts.  You will have some class time to do these pages if our conference is later in the period.

Q3's first journal check.  Come to me beforehand with a perfectly order journal to become one of the class' journal checkers.  See attached order, and be prepared!

Your children's book is due:  You must have the rubric with you and your partner's name on it and the signed copy of your plot diagram inside your illustrated, finished book.  Check out the posted rubric for clarification.  This is the final draft of your book.  

Oral Exam for Capítulo Dos.  Written exam is January 12 for Períodos 1 and 5, January 13 for Períodos for 0, 2, and 6. At this point, you should have completed and corrected the yellow packet, Capítulo Dos, Lección A, the golden-rod colored packet,   Guía de Estudiar A, and the Guía de Estudiar B (study guide--also a yellow sheet, but this one is double sided). This is attached below. You are responsible for all the material on the study guide.  IF you complete all these forms, you focus in class, you correct your Caliente Su Mentes and study them throughout the quarter and you ask questions/participate mentally and physically in class, you are in excellent shape for the Capítulo Dos Exam.  Vale 100 puntos. 

Please have the Capítulo Dos Yellow Review packet done.  We will correct in class!

Please also have the Guía de Estudiar A/ Capítulo Dos completed.  This is the packet you will receive in class on Monday, January 4th for periods 1, 2, 5, and 6, and Tuesday, January 5th for period zero.  This is an additional review packet that will help you refresh your prior knowledge of Capítulo Dos.  See attached file below if you need a new copy.

Workbook pages 34 and 35 are due today!  These will give you additional practice with using adjectives and modifying nouns, using the verbs "llevar," "hablar," "necesitar," "terminar," and "estudiar."  These pages are worth some points.

Do this handout on regular ar, er, ir verbs as well as ser and estar.

Workbook pages 31-33.  In order to do workbook page 33, read page 63 in the textbook first.

We will correct the seven questions you had to do on the Nearpod.  Most students are storing their work in the homework tray in class.  If you did not have a chance to view the Nearpod in class, please go to the homework page, click on the link, advance through the first slide and then take notes on any of the uses of SER or ESTAR that are confusing to you.  Do the seven questions, and bring in that sheet of work to correct on Monday (Periods 1, 2, 5, and 6) and Tuesday (Period 0). Do the quiz at the end of the Nearpod and submit your answers.

Journal check.  Be sure your journal is in this exact order.  Highlight all dates.  This is an easy 15 points!

Yellow handout on definite and indefinite articles.  Doing this handout will further "cement" the use of the definite and indefinite articles: feminine, masculine, singular and plural.  Also, turn the sheet over and translate the handwritten sentences to English.  We will correct these in class. I do not have a soft copy of this handout, so hang onto the one I give you in class!

Do pages 28, 29, and 30 in the workbook.  These pages will help you practice definite and indefinite articles as well as using "Hay."  "Hay" means "there is," or "there are."  You will also practice vocabulary for Chapter Two.

This is the final practice sheet due on the IR regular verbs.  Also included in this attachment are the AR and ER practice sheets.  Please be aware that each sheet has its own specific due date.  Write these due dates down.  Each practice sheet is worth points.

We will learn the conjugations of Ser and Estar this week:  two irregular verbs that both mean "to be."  Do these workbook pages to practice the conjugation of the verb SER and how to form a negative sentence.  Do pages 24 and 25.

Fill out this practice sheet by class on 11/16 (Periods 1, 2, 5, 6) and 11/17 (Period 0).  This practice will get you efficient in conjugating regular AR verbs. Notice the ER and IR practice sheets and due dates are also included.  Write down the due dates for each practice sheet.  DO not be late.  Each sheet is worth homework credit.

Please do pages 22 and 23 in your workbook.  The two pages are five points each.

Final day to have your journal errors resolved.  It is possible to get full credit if you come see me on your own time:  before school, at break and after school, and resolve the identified errors.  Plan ahead, so there is enough time to go over the entire journal.

Quiz on the Caliente Su Mente order this week.  Please, be sure to correct your journal each day, per our corrections, so you are not copying mistakes. When you do quiz corrections, go back through your journals and correct any errors you made!  Study your journal each night, so you are absorbing the information--remember--the Chapter One exam does not allow for journals--you need to know the material. Come in for extra help!  Ask questions in class!  

This project will be done in class with partners.  The only way this becomes homework is if you do not use your time wisely in class:) If you did not finish on 9/25, this is due on Monday, September 28th for Periods: 1, 2, 5, and 6, AND Tuesday, September 29th for Period 0.

Fill out the chart of numbers 1-100, spelling each one out.

Study the expresiones de la clase AND fill in all the blanks, front and back of the section titled LOS OBJECTOS DE LA CLASE (the objects of the class).  There are 36 blanks.  Use your textbook and dictionaries to get the information. Some you may already know!

Quiz on Caliente Su Mente from this week AND letter sounds:  As part of the regular weekly quiz where you use your journal, I will also pronounce approximately ten letters in Spanish, and you will write  then down.  See the Caliente Su Mente page if you miss class.

Please listen to the three dialogues and be ready to answer comprehension questions in class. You may take short notes and use them in the assessment, if this helps you.  Hint:  In all three dialogues, know who is talking and what they are generally talking about.  These are native speakers.  Notice how they pronounce certain words.  Have fun!

2) Bring in your type-up version of your Entrevista presentation.  We will draw straws to begin introducing our classmate.  We will present all week. Check out the template to construct your presentation.

1) Fill in the white handout titled "El Alfabeto."  This is the back side of the sheet of paper titled "EL ABECEDARIO" you used to make your alphabet strip.  You may skip the line that reads "Mi adjectivo" and the Más Práctica section. 

2)  Please write up how you will use the Developmental Assets #30, Responsibility, and #32, Planning and Decision Making, in your first quarter at Fisher.  You may discuss our Spanish class, of course, but may also extend this plan of action to your other classes, at home, and in our community of Los Gatos, California, the United States, the world.  Format:  hand-written paragraph (unless you want to type it, or your handwriting is not legible), in your best academic English, one paragraph for each asset ( a paragraph is 5-8 sentences), so up to 16 sentences!

You will have an end-of-the-week quiz covering the week's lessons.  Be sure to properly correct your Caliente Su Mente, so you can use your journal as a strong resource on your quiz. 

Oral quiz on the Spanish alphabet.  You can use your alphabet sheet to pronounce the words!  Come ready to recite the alphabet, one-on-one to me. 

Get To Know You:  I will distribute a yellow paper on Monday and Tuesday titled "The Late Paper."  It is a scenario of a student who may or may not take responsibility.  You be the judge.  By the due date, read the scenario (story), and you judge who is most responsible for what happens!  I do not have soft copies of this exercise, so please do not lose your one copy:)  Directions are on the yellow sheet.  

El alfabeto/el abecedario (the alphabet):  We will begin this physical project of an alphabet in class and work on it for a portion of two class periods.  If you do not finish, please finish at home by Friday, August 28th.  This alphabet will be on the wall, so please make it neat and colorful!

Write out the questions: 1) ¿Qué día es hoy?; 2)¿Cuál es la fecha?; 3)¿Qué tiempo hace?; 4)¿De dónde eres?; and 5)¿Cuántos años tienes?  translate each one in parentheses, and then answer each one.  See the model below:
