HW: Important Renaissance Figures BINGO!

Log on to Google Classroom to use the document and slides for completing your notes. 20 points for your notes, 5 points for your slides.  We play BINGO on Monday.

Europe's Renaissance Introduction

Use the documents attached on Google Classroom to complete the classwork activity.

Using your notes from the presentations, fill in the Venn diagram for each topic, except your own.  Focus on finding the similarities and differences between the Maya, Aztec, and Inca.

Then answer the five questions that follow.  Use the chart attached here to help you determine what issues are political, economic, or social.

When you're finished, go back to the original instructions for the presentation and complete the Partner & Self Reflection questions.  It's best if you go back to the Google Classroom post and type your responses there, or print them.

Wrapping up our study of the pre-Columbian societies, learn how the Spanish began their conquest of the Aztec and Inca by reading about the what happened to the leaders of each people.  

 

If absent, you can pick which society you focus on, and you only need to complete the questions related to one.  However, read the documents from the other to answer the final question about what happened to the other group.  

 

Example - if you pick the Aztec, read about Moctezuma and Cortés and answer all of the questions.  When you are finished, read the accounts about Atahualpa and the Inca to give a quick description of what happened to them.

 

Points to focus on:

- Who writes history?

- How is it written?

- What is myth/legend, and what is the truth?

- Did Moctezuma believe Cortés was a god?

- Did Atahualpa hold the Bible to his ear?

Mesoamerican Civilizations Presentation

Partners are assigned a topic to research, build a Google Slides presentation, and teach the class about their topic.  

Homework:

Read this article.  Choose the reading level that is challenging yet understanding.  Try reading 1040L and switch to 940L of needed.  The content is the same.

Answer the simple questions attached.

Mesoamerican Geography Challenge

There are 3 questions that can only be done online using the links in the document to explore and use Google Earth.

The rest is the standards Geography Challenge using the textbook and paper copies are available in class.

This is the unit project that will be ongoing and self-paced (with certain deadlines) during our study of Japan.  We will work on this when there is spare time in class, with some time set aside each week.  Do what you need to do as homework to keep a steady pace towards the end of the unit and final due date.

Classwork - Google Classroom was having technical difficulties.  To access the document for you to write in, follow these instructions:

-Go to Google Drive

-Click "Shared with me"

-Look for the document "Japan vs Europe Part 1"

-On the Google menu bar, click "File" then "Make a copy"

-When finished with the assignment, go to Google Classroom

-Open the post for Japan vs Europe Part 1

-Click "Add" then the Google Drive symbol to add your document

-Click "Turn In"

You can type on the file posted on Google Classroom.

This is the classwork being done this week.  If absent, pick one scroll of the four (linked inside the file) and follow instructions 1 & 2.  Use the file on Google Classroom so you can type into it.

Make a copy to be able to edit the file.

Follow the instructions for how to label the map, and answer the questions related to each point.
