This is an individual assignment, and you should remain in your assigned seats and work independently throughout the class period.
You will work through the Google Slides and complete several activities. They will:
Identify what historians do and how they study the past.
Practice distinguishing between fact and opinion.
Identify historical articles/statements based on fact vs. opinion.
Answer some questions in their Social Studies notebook.
Type responses to other questions directly into the Google Slides.
Watch and complete the assigned BrainPOP video/activity in Google Classroom when instructed to do so in the slides.
You should work through the assignment in order and follow the directions on each slide carefully.

You will create a cover page in your notebook for Unit 1. 

You will need the following:
Title of the Unit
Title of each Lesson 
Colored pictures representing each lesson 
Use your online textbook to gain inspiration for the pictures. Log in to your TCI textbook through Clever. Make sure to review the linked notebook assignment list to make sure you complete this on the correct page.

If absent, please complete these notes using the slides, then glue them into your notebook.

This assignment will get you familiar with navigating your online textbook. You can access your text through Clever and go to TCI.

You will be creating a political map of the United States. You should be able to correctly identify each state on a blank U.S. map. Use the practice link provided to quiz yourself and prepare.

Choosing Your Pictures
Choose pictures that represent people, events, places, or ideas we will learn about in U.S. History this year. Look through your textbook for inspiration.

Some ideas might include the American Revolution, Constitution, westward expansion, Civil War, important historical figures, Native American cultures, immigration, or industrialization. 

Make It Your Own!
Your cover page should be neat, colorful, creative, and easy to read. Arrange your pictures and information in a way that makes an interesting introduction to your History Notebook.
