3rd Per- English 7-26-37 Assignments

1. Work independently to define your words. You may use an online dictionary.     https://www.merriam-webster.com/kids
2. Write a sentence using the vocabulary word in the sentence. This sentence needs to make the meaning of the word obvious. It must be a complete sentence and cannot use the definition in the sentence. 
3. Find a google image that you think depicts the meaning of the word. It could be related to the sentence or not, but be ready to defend it (explain why you chose that picture)

Please read part 1 of Secret Samantha. Use headphones for the audio and please make sure that you are following along in the text. NO AIRPODS!! Please borrow headphones if you need them.

Part 1 ends after 4 minutes. You can complete Chapter 1 and the questions today, and begin listening to Part 2 today. I will give time in class tomorrow to complete Part 2 questions. (20 minutes on Thursday)

Directions:  Choose your favorite book and recreate the spine of the book to hang on our classroom bookshelf.  This can be any book you’ve read in the past that you enjoyed.  


Your book spine must:

Include the TITLE of the book (spelled and capitalized correctly)
Include the AUTHOR of the book (spelled and capitalized correctly)
Include COLOR 
Look like the spine of the actual book (yes, you can use reference photos if needed)
Be neat, easy to read, and worth hanging on the classroom wall
PLEASE CUT OUT YOUR BOOK SPINE AND WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE BACK.

Students will begin this in class on Monday, 8/24. They will be expected to listen/read/watch and then answer the questions that align to the short story. Each question is worth 2 points.


When they are done, they will continue to work on their "What's in a name assignment?"

Today we will be working on getting to know you activities with some worksheets for you to work on. (All About Me and English Goals). Each will be scored 5 points for submitting on time.

After our time at the library today for the re-introduction talk, we will work on our introduction letter. No backpacks in the library today.
