Twinkle - Melody - Playing Quiz Next Wednesday in Google Classroom

Twinkle - Melody - Playing Quiz Next Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

Our first playing quiz is coming up next Wednesday. If you would prefer to not play individually in front of the class. You can record yourself and upload the video to this assignment BEFORE Wednesday.

Below is the music. Scroll down if you play Cello or Bass. There is also a copy of the rubric so that you can see how you will be graded.

Things to think about when you are practicing:
 - Tune carefully your open D and A string
 - First practice pizzicato version and pay close attention to your left hand posture
 - *Bow hand* Practice open strings - draw a straight bow and adjust your elbow and wrist as needed
 - Carefully and slowly check left hand/right hand and then slowly practice playing Twinkle. Pay close attention to your posture
 - 2nd time running through that day, listen to your sound. Does it sound good? If not, what is happening?
 - 3rd time, check to make sure you still have a lovely left hand

Happy Practicing!

Formal Orchestra Uniform - Parents need to complete Form by Friday, Sept 4th

Hello Orchestra Students,

Below is the information that was sent to your parents regarding formal uniforms. Your parents need to complete the form via Parentsquare by Friday, September 4th. Please let me know if you have any questions and we will discuss this more in class...

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Students have the choice of two attire options. Please check with your students to see which option they would like to wear before paying if you are purchasing.

Option 1: Black Velvet Top with Skirt/Pants
Option 2: White Collared Shirt and Black Dress Pants
Below are the concert attire options, guidelines, and care instructions for this school year.

Please fill out the form below for  enrolled in the music program.
Keep an eye out for a follow-up post next week to sign up for a uniform fitting appointment.
For formal concerts, choose one option:
Borrowed attire is free to use but . Borrowed items must be returned clean at the end of the year—
Choir Dresses ($90), Band/Orchestra Skirt & Blouse ($90), or White Shirt & Black Dress Pants ($60).
You may buy your own items  for the White Collared Shirt and Black Dress Pants option (please see attached uniform photo)
Fittings are required for borrowing from the school or purchasing through the music boosters. Sign-ups will open next week. Fittings will take place on:
 Returning 7th & 8th-grade students only.
 All students.
Pants should be hemmed to a half-break, and dresses hemmed to allow easy walking. Use  (do not cut fabric). - Clothes must be wrinkle-free; use low heat with a press cloth between the iron and garment.
Solid black, closed-toe dress shoes, flats, or 1–1.5” heels.  Wear solid black dress socks with pants, or skin-toned/black tights with dresses.
Hair must be secured out of the face using small, neutral clips or headbands (black or hair-colored only). Makeup must look natural and subtle. Only small, simple jewelry is allowed to prevent performance distractions.
All borrowed attire must be returned clean with temporary hems removed after the final concert of the year.
Remove brooches/accessories. Wash separately on a gentle cycle with cold water (no bleach). Tumble dry on medium-high heat for 10–15 minutes, then hang damp on a plastic hanger to air dry wrinkle-free.
Machine wash in warm water, tumble dry, and hang immediately to prevent wrinkles.
Wash separately on a gentle cycle with cold water (no bleach).
Thank you for your support in keeping our musicians looking sharp!
