hello everybody my name is mr. notes are going to be for your project at the top of the dressing is the line of best fit so you going to be charged with the task of creating a line and writing an equation for that line you're going to collect some data course you going to plot this data so the question is how do you draw a line on top of a bunch of data that scattered all over the graph but here you go let's look at a couple of examples if your data happens to line up perfectly sites that you can create or draw a line through it all you live in this perfect world  but in reality in our world data always line up exactly as a perfect straight line in the real world of data which is your project install your data points are going to look more like this so I'm going to show you two methods to creating a line out of this so this is the first method right on this first method you go ahead and you literally just group all of your data points with a circle or an oval or a group months like this you go ahead and you take your ruler and you're going to put this blog if you wish in half and you just can I ball it I'm going to say do there  I'm going to draw a line  through those two marks there you go  that's one end of the line and there's the other end of the line let's go ahead at appoints above-the-line we have one two three four five six seven underneath we have one two three four this one's kind of in the middle listens more underneath so far so we have 7 on top 5 underneath and one right on the line hey maybe if this line was a you're a little bit more we could have had a perfect 6 and 6 split but it's not always going to be perfect alright here's the second method I'm drawing a line of best fit  for this method I'm going to go ahead and count right number of data points that I have here and I want to have the same number of data points above and below so I'm going to just go ahead and sketch a line here about here and I'm going to start counting I'm going to have one two three four five six 1 2 3 4 5 6 712-3458 so I'm going to go ahead and try to make a split here we go two three four five six seven eight nine 10 11 12 13 14 Seven and Seven so here is my line of best fit I have 1 2 3 4 5 six seven I have seven data points up here and underneath the line 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 I have seven data points as well that's another method of drawing your line of best fit now when I want to call your attention to is this it right over here  notice how this point is way on the outside this is what you call an outlier sometimes when you find an outlier in your data this could be a car this could be cost from human error or sometimes it's just characteristic of the data that you found where you have an outline point now when you describe your graphs there are three kinds of correlations hear that all of these points right as were plotting them they're moving  up what do you call a positive correlation sometimes the thoughts move downward that's what you would call a  negative correlation and sometimes two points are just kind of random there back on an erection and that's what you would call a random correlation alright good luck and have fun in your project bye bye
