Symphonic Band-1 Assignments

Read through the "Disneyland Information 2026" as a class, then answer the questions in the google form.

Our concert is on  Friday March 13th at McAfee Center at Saratoga High School . We will be sharing this concert with the LGHS bands.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT AND BINDER FROM FISHER TO SARATOGA HIGH SCHOOL.

To avoid an overly long evening, the concert will be split into two events. Students are expected to remain in the audience and listen to the high school musicians during their concert , but they do not  need to attend the other time slot (unless they would like to!).

5:15 PM – Fisher Trojan Band arrives
5:30–5:45 PM – Fisher Trojan Band sound check
6:00 PM – Fisher Trojan Band, LGHS Symphonic Band, LGHS Crescent Ensemble

6:50 PM – Fisher Concert Band arrives
7:00 PM – Fisher Concert Band sound check
7:00 PM – Fisher Symphonic Band arrives, sets up, and takes seats in the audience

Student Attire (Formal Concert Dress):

Black pants and white button-down shirt 
Black skirt with black blouse
Black dress shoes and black socks
Please remember to bring instruments and binders.

Fill this out during class so we can plan for next year.

Listen to each song, rate it, and choose three songs to play at the May Concert.

This event is during the school day. You will need to be dropped off at Daves Ave Elementary School at 7:45am on 2/10.  You will walk back to Fisher from Van Meter in time for the 2:50 dismissal. 


Phone Policy = Student’s phones need to be off and away during school hours. I will hold your phone and turn it into the Fisher office if you are using it during the field trip.

10:00am     Arrive at Blossom Hill and set up for assembly
10:30am -11:30am    Band, Choir, Orchestra perform for 5th Grade students
11:50am     Load buses and depart for lunch
12:00 12:45pm      Lunch at Newton Shopping Center (student can choose to visit: 
                                   Erik’s Deli, McDonalds, Blvd Coffee OR bring their own lunch)
12:45pm      Depart for Van Meter
1:00pm     Set up for assembly at Van Meter
1:15pm 2:15pm     Band, Choir, Orchestra perform for 5th Grade Students
2:30pm      Pack up and walk back to Fisher
2:50pm    Regular Pick-up at Fisher
Wear: Black Fisher music t-shirt and dark-colored long pants
Bring: Instrument, music, and anything else you need for the performances and a sack lunch or lunch money. Please do not bring your school backpack.

Fill this out only if you are going to Disneyland. 

If you are not attneding the disneyland trip, you do not need to do this assignment. 

1. Create your group of 6 for hotel rooms for Disneyland. If your group has less than 6, let me know and I will add you to a different list. 
2. Decide which group member is going to sign up for the group. 
3. That group member signs up the entire group on the form. 
4. Make sure you enter your group in the BAND section, and choose the correct gender room. 

Only one person from each group should fill out the form.

We are having our first fundraiser cabaret concert January 29th at 6pm. The audience will donate at the door for the concert. Please fill out this form if you would like to perform either solo or with a group. You will work on the performance on your own and has to be cleared by a music teacher before the performance.

This is a required event for all Symphonic band and all 8th graders in band.

Wednesday, January 21st 3:30-8:00pm at LGHS


Tomorrow, January 21st is our Los Gatos Music Festival where our Band and Choir ensembles work with the incoming 9th graders and perform.  The High School ensembles include Wind Ensemble, Mixed and Treble Choirs. All 8th-grade parents are invited to our 8th Grade Parent Music Information Session with LGHS Music Boosters at 6:15 pm in the Orchestra Room.  After the meeting, you will get to see the final performance at 7 pm!

7:00 pm-730 pm - Band  Performance (LGHS Gym); Choir Performance (Theater) - All friends and families are encouraged to Attend!

We are taking formal group photos on Wednesday. 
Wear your:

Bring a change of clothes and shoes in a (drop off at your music classroom in the morning)
Students should wear pants/shorts and an undershirt to school to allow for quick changing

Bring snacks to share (no nuts) and a gift to exchange.

Every student needs to fill out this form before 12/12 so we can plan our White Elephant party!

White Elephant Party- Thursday 12/18 during class

Directions: Bring a wrapped gift to exchange.  The gift can be gently used or new (under 15 dollars) and needs to be school appropriate.  NO nerf toys/weapon like toys, no nuts, no rude items, etc. If you aren't sure if an item is appropriate, it is not!

If you are unable to bring a gift and want to participate, let me know so I can provide a gift for you to exchange.

This Saturday is the Los Gatos Holiday Parade, where we will get to perform for our own community. 
Because we are meeting in downtown Los Gatos, students need to bring their instruments or banners/signs home from Fisher on Thursday or Friday. There will not be any storage areas at the parade, so instrument cases, water bottles, and anything other than parade materials must stay in your car for the duration of the event. If your child brings a cell phone, it must be turned OFF and stored in their uniform pocket until the parade is over.
This is a judged parade, so it is essential that all participants wear their full uniform, including long black socks and marching shoes. I recommend pinning long hair back in case it is windy. 
Los Gatos Parade Information
Saturday, Dec. 6th
All students will meet in downtown Los Gatos behind Bank of the West (308 N Santa Cruz Ave) at 9:00 am in full uniform and with instruments only (no cases).
 Please make sure students eat a good breakfast before arriving.
Check-in: 9:00 am
Decorate instruments: 9:00–9:30 am
Warm-up and tune: 9:30–10:00 am
Performance exchange with LGHS: 10:15 am
Parade begins: 11:00 am

Please pick up your child from the front steps of LGHS around 12:00 pm, and make sure to sign out with Mrs. Ancheta or a chaperone before leaving.

9:00am Meet in downtown Los Gatos wearing full uniform, with your instrument only (no cases, no water). Specific Location TBA

12:00pm Pick up on the steps of the LGHS front lawn.  Students will not be released without a parent present or prior approval.

Have your parents go to parentsquare and search for the "Third Disney Payment moved to December 5" message to pay online.

Or, you can turn in a check for 200 dollars written out to Los Gatos Music Boosters to me or Mr. Miller. 

Fill out this form to let me know if you plan to play with the band, orchestra, and choir for Sleigh Ride. You need to fill it out if you regardless of whether or not you will participate. 

This is also posted in the jazz band assignments. You only need to fill it out once if you are in both bands.

Wear your full uniform: black marching shoes, black socks, marching pants, and jacket.  I recommend long sleeves and long pants or shorts underneath the uniforms. Long hair should be secured in the event of windy weather. Also, make sure to eat a healthy, hearty meal before coming to Fisher, as there will not be time to eat dinner until after the parade.

Fisher Middle Students:
Wear- Fisher black music t-shirt; pants (jeans or black preferred), socks and sneakers
Bring- instrument, lyre, flip folder with music, sunglasses/hat, water bottle with your name on it
Before you get to the HS, make sure to eat something substantial as there won’t be a dinner break before the game start

All students need to have their parent complete the "Disneyland Deposit and Chaperone Interest Form", even if you are not planning to attend the Disneyland trip.  We want to make sure that all families know that the deadline to register is September 19th.
