A note about academic and personal integrity:

Students are to maintain academic and personal integrity on all assignments. Copying, plagiarizing, cheating, and using artificial intelligence on one’s work undermines the learning goals of our classroom and is inappropriate behavior.

While large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Gemini can be useful for studying, summarizing, and understanding concepts, students should not make use of LLMs for purposes relating to English class without prior approval. Presenting or submitting writing and/or research that was created wholly or in part by an LLM without explicit permission will constitute a violation of academic integrity in this class. Unfortunately, with LLMs so widely accessible, it can occasionally be challenging to determine authorship of submitted assignments. For this reason, all submitted writing assignments must have a full revision history to be eligible for credit.

Today, you started drafting your story in class. You learned how to slow down and story-tell, bit by bit, to draft 3-D stories that SHOW rather than TELL your characters’ thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Homework: Set a timer for 20 minutes and continue to draft in 3-D. Remember to use what you learned today to paragraph your story correctly.

14. ✏️ Write: Why this story idea?

You now have at least 10 story ideas to choose from! It's time to look at both lists and pick your favorite:
Which story do you like the best?
Which story do you want to take all the way to publication?
Which story does the world need you to write?
Write 100 words defending your story idea.  You’re not going to write the actual story.  Instead, write about why this story is important to you and why it might be important to your readers. You are allowed to change your mind later!

HINT: If you can’t explain why this story is important to write, you should probably consider choosing a different idea.
