3rd Period FRENCH 1-2026-2027 Assignments

You and your partner will record yourself asking and answering the questions to prepare for the assessment on Monday and possibly Wednesday. I recommend you practice with each other before you start recording. 

1st your partner will as you questions and you will record yourself (on your Chromebook) in Vocaroo when you are answering the questions. 
You must answer 6 different questions randomly without seeing the question you are answering. 
Your partner cannot show you the questions.
You must attach the vocaroo recording to this assignment.
2nd Then you ask your partner questions and they will record themself (on their Chromebook) answering the questions without seeing the questions.  
Do not show your partner the questions. Just ask them. If they cannot understand you, you need more practice. Go back to the practice question recordings (included below) I gave you and play the recordings of the questions. Practice them while you do it. 
You will each have approximately 7 minutes to practice... then 10 minutes to record.
Your partner must attach the vocaroo recording to this assignment on their own Chromebook. 

Please complete the être worksheet we started in class. 

Go to the Flippity link below to assemble the words make sentences that  describe peoples nationalities. 
1. Look at my screenshot and line up your singular subjects on the left je, tu, il, elle. Then the plural subjects on the right: nous, vous, ils, elles. Click on settings to make 2 columns.
2. Then match the blue tiles (suis, es, est, sommes, êtes, sont) which are the different forms of être to the correct subject as in the hot dog song. 
3. Then match any nationality that matches the number (singular or plural) and gender (masculine or feminine) to the in the nationality. Notice the purple tiles are singular and the yellow tiles are plural.

You need to use all of the green and blue tiles .But you won't use all of the nationality tiles.

TAKE OUT the "Comment je suis" paragraph where you described yourself. Read it to yourself a few times then record it in VOCAROO or another digital recorder - then attach the files. 
Make sure you pronounce your country of origin correctly. I've attached a link to a file where I have recorded the pronunciation of the different ethnicities. Listen to the one with your country and practice. Notice I give the masculine (il est indien) and the feminine (elle est indienne) version of each work. 
You can either record in this assignment or use the digital recorder VOCAROO. Be sure to attach the link so I can hear it.

Please read the story, answer the questions. Don't do the second page that is on the .pdf.  Just do the first and last - the story and the order the events of the story. That is what I passed out in class.

For each sentence write the correct form of the adjective in parenthesis at the end of the sentence. The last 4 ask you to describe yourself and friend. 
Use the copy that was passed out in class. Print this if you lose it.

Work with a partner to complete these slides and learn a lot of new vocabualry. This will help you learn new ways to describe yourself and other people.

Write 12 sentences on worksheet provided in class (a copy is attached) describing people you draw and/or know. You need to use the adverbs "un peu, assez, très et vraiment.

YOU HAVE TO VIEW THIS IN SLIDESHOW MODE. Please go through slideshow to create your own story. Pick one you like the best then write it on a piece of binder paper. If you translate it, I'll give you 2 points extra credit.

Please talk to your parents and find out what your family origins are. Then write them in the Google Form attached.

Use the copy handed out in class or print your own (attached).  Decorate your hoodie to portray things about yourself.  You can attach images if you prefer but you need to provide them. See samples attached for ideas.  Your hoodies will be graded as follows: 
5 points = Follows instructions - each section responds to the prompt on the second sheet
5 points = On effort - completely fills the space, doesn't appear rushed, uses more than 5 colors
5 points = On creativity = doesn't copy examples but includs unique items that correspond with who you are. 
These will be posted on the wall for Back-to School-Night.
