How Parents Can Help
Parents can help their students by:
- Asking their student to explain what they are currently studying in science.
- Ask to see their student's completed work. (Don't just ask if homework is finished.)
- Quizzing their student on material for upcoming tests and checking if they have completed an External Brain Sheet. ("Reading over notes" does not insure they have the concepts down.)
- Check PowerSchool either once a week or once every two weeks to make sure their student isn't falling behind. As the year progresses, parents may only need to check once a month.
- Encouraging their student to email the teacher for help and with questions they have. Sit with their student to help them compose that first email if necessary. Help them become an advocate for themselves.
