Dear Families,

 

My name is Nello Santillana, I am the new Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coach for Fisher Middle School. Our LGUSD MTSS team includes representatives at each site. We are tasked with helping our educational leaders and teachers build MTSS that functions as a system that enhances belonging, coherence, and consistency. 

 

On site we are collaborating with school leadership, teachers, and support staff to analyze data that informs our decision making process. We provide job-embedded professional development, including observations and modeling with repeated feedback on their instruction to help our teachers deliver high quality instruction and intervention. By reviewing data with teachers and interventionists, we help determine where additional educator supports are needed. In essence, we help keep a bird's eye view on the overall MTSS implementation.

 

At the district level we share information between our school and the district so that district level administrators can establish policies and procedures that support building best practices. 

 

We hope to make all learning visible in our district, and we know we can achieve that by having sustainable, equitable systems that are built with clear priorities, actionable data, and intentional routines.

 

I was a former math teacher with 20 years experience. As a classroom educator my philosophy of education was rooted in helping students develop a Growth Mindset, incorporate Mindfulness into their weekly habits, and foster a Thinking Classroom.
