Born in Spokane, Washington, music has always played an integral part in Mrs. Aryn Krijnen’s life.  Growing up, she was surrounded by music educators and by high school; Mrs. Krijnen assisted in the elementary classroom, at concerts, camps, festivals, and teaching private lessons.  Studying under Jeri Bentley, a Spokane Symphony player, she accelerated her growth as a violinist, receiving the honor of an all-state musician.  Her dream of being a violinist and teacher led to studying under Dr. Meredith Arksey at Washington State University, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in music education.  There, she was a member of the WSU String Quartet, WSU Symphony Orchestra, and soloed with the WSU Chamber Orchestra.  Mrs. Krijnen has continued her performance career as a member of the Washington-Idaho Symphony, Coeur d’Alene Symphony, Silicon Valley Symphony and the Cambrian Symphony.

As an educator, Mrs. Krijnen has taught for 18 years in public schools working with students from 3rd-12th grade.  She built the orchestra program at Hoover Middle School from 80 members to over 150.  In the Saratoga School District, she expanded the orchestra program by 300%.  Her tenure there culminated in bringing the after-school middle school program into the school day and advocating for equality of arts education for all.  Whether coaching small groups, sectionals, chamber music, or leading the orchestra, Mrs. Krijnen exemplifies the joy of learning through music.

Mrs. Krijnen is married to a cellist and orchestra teacher, Scott Krijnen, and the mother of two children ages 13 and 11.

With a caring and kind approach to learning, Mrs. Krijnen builds an environment that fosters growth by always supporting a student’s musical and educational journey.  She looks forward to continuing the wonderful orchestra program that is established in the Los Gatos community!
