Knowledge of Choreography

The student does not make a mistake. He or she demonstrates the movements cleanly and clearly.

The student makes a mistake, but he or she recovers without falling behind on the steps or music.

The student makes a mistake and does not recover, or misses some steps entirely.

The student needs to watch others, or cannot demonstrate the movements.

Rhythm

The student keeps time with the music at least 90% the time.

The student dances on the beat at least 75% of the time.

The student dances on the beat at least 50% of the time.

The student dances on the beat less than 50% of the time.

Stage Presence

The student performs with a lot of energy. He or she uses various facial expressions and body movements to express an emotion.

The student performs with energy and expression at least 75% of the time.

The student performs with energy and expression at least 50% of the time.

The student performs with energy and expressions less than 50% of the time.

Technique

The student moves with great attention to detail. The body placement and positions are accurate.

The student’s body placement and positions are accurate at least 75% of the time.

The student’s body placement and positions are accurate at least 50% of the time.

The student demonstrates little to no body awareness. Body placement and positions are accurate less than 50% of the time.
